Kang Mi-na in Talks to Star as a Senior Detective in New Drama 'Protect Me'

Singer-turned-actress Kang Mi-na may soon take on a bold new role in the upcoming drama "Protect Me." Her agency, Story J Company, confirmed that she has received an offer for the series and is currently reviewing it with a positive outlook.

Based on a popular webtoon of the same name, "Protect Me" is an office romantic comedy centered around two individuals with severe trust issues. The plot follows a former national-level detective and a third-generation chaebol secretary who initially distrust one another but eventually end up protecting and saving each other.

Kang Mi-na has been offered the role of Kang Hae-ra, a fierce senior detective serving on a violent crime unit. If she accepts, this project will mark another major transition in her acting career, moving away from her usual characters into a more action-oriented and charismatic persona.

Since transitioning into acting after her 2016 debut with the project girl group I.O.I, Kang Mi-na has steadily built up her filmography. She has showcased her versatile acting skills through various roles in hit series such as "Hotel Del Luna," "Welcome to Samdal-ri," and "Moonshine."
